Weekly Devotion | Psalm 23

In a world that constantly tells us we need more—more likes, more hustle, more "stuff" to be happy—there is a quiet, radical peace in the words: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want" (Psalm 23:1).

Think about that for a second. I shall not want. It means that in Him, we are already whole. We aren't lacking the strength, the grace, or the direction we need to face the day. We aren't wandering aimlessly through the neon lights of life; we are being led.

Why stay on the sidelines?

Too often, we stay on the "bench" because we feel unprepared or unworthy. We wait for the "perfect" moment to share our faith or live out our purpose. But a shepherd doesn't wait for the sheep to be perfect to lead them; He leads them because they are His.

Woman in a denim jacket and zebra scarf stands in a neon-lit street. The jacket reads "Street Angels, Gritty Soldiers." Mood is bold and edgy.

Whether you feel like a "Street Angel" or a "Gritty Soldier" today, remember that your Shepherd has already equipped you. You don’t have to strive for what you already have in Him.

Stepping into the Street

It’s time to take that peace and turn it into action. Giving glory to the Lord isn’t just something we do in a quiet room; it’s how we carry ourselves in the middle of the city, at our jobs, and in our communities.

When you know you "shall not want," you can give freely. You can love boldly. You can step off the bench and into the game, knowing the Good Shepherd is right there beside you.

The sidelines are safe, but the field is where the glory happens. Let’s get to work.

Daily Affirmations from Psalm 23:
