Did you Know!?
The fashion industry is responsible for 10% of the global carbon emissions and is the second-largest consumer of the world’s fresh water supply.
There’s also a serious problem with overproduction and waste in the industry. Based off of industry research, global clothing production has more than doubled since 2000, and fast fashion retailers are offering new collections every week, instead of just for summer and winter seasons. 92 million tons of textile goes to waste in the fashion industry each year.
You may not be aware, but fast fashion has a huge downside, the cheaper retailers offer their clothing, the less quality is produced. Using cheap, synthetic materials and rudimentary manufacturing processes result in clothing that easily rips and tears, and ends up in the dumpster sooner rather than later. That is the downside of fast fashion—fast to produce, fast to wear down.
Based off of these factors, Yeshua Apparel has decided to go on demand rather than the overproduction route. That means we create the product only when a customer places an order. This approach helps us avoid overproduction, keeping an excessive amount of products away from the landfill, therefore reducing the harm by at least 20%.
Sustainability is Key When it Relates to your YESHUA Tee
Product quality is important because it determines how long the product will last and when you’re actually going to throw it away.
As Yeshua Apparel moves in the direction of becoming an environmentally conscious brand, we're focusing on innovative ways to provide our customers quality products that last while being eco-friendly, to help bring us closer to a more sustainable future. This means sourcing eco-friendly products that uses sustainable materials such as organic cotton and recycled polyester.
As mentioned before, fast fashion isn't necessarily focusing on the quality of the garment and to us that's the most important part. "Product quality is important because it determines how long the product will last and when you’re actually going to throw it away. If you buy a five dollar t-shirt and then throw it away after the first wash because it's ruined, you're very much contributing to the problem that fast fashion is right now." Says Elina K of Research and Development.
Therefore, If you invest in a quality piece that's going to last you longer, is going to be more durable and you take good care of it by washing it responsibly, drying it responsibly, you're not polluting as much. By choosing quality over price, you are making a sustainable choice, whether you're shopping for yourself, or somebody else.
